A mail from Iran - I found it very difficult to find someone send a cover from Iran , but finally found someone to send one ! He has also graciously stuck the Iran- India joint issue MS along with those numerous stamps on medicinal herbs ! I wonder what the international letter postage rate is in Iran ? I am lost trying to calculate the rials on the cover !
About the cover - I was disappointed for two reasons - there was no cancellation on the cover from Iran and second , someone had tried to open the cover and pry its contents ! Did someone think I was importing Persian contrabands into India through a philatelic cover ?!?!?
Iran - India joint issue stamp - this one was issued on 17-02-2018 - and is the second joint issue stamp between the two countries. This MS highlights the commercial relationship between the two countries depicting the two major ports of the countries. On the Iranian side is the Shahid Beheshti port ( inaugurated in December 2017 ) . This is the first phase of the Chambahar port in the south eastern coast of Iran . Deenadayal port is the Kandla port of India and is the largest one in terms of the volume handled. India is the second largest buyer of Crude oil from Iran and Iran is the third largest supplier of Crude oil to India. Moreover, the relationship between Persia and India dates back to several centuries. Each stamp is 12000 rials ( around ₹17/- )
The medicinal flowers of Iran - issued in 2016. I am still trying to get information on them ! Any help would be deeply appreciated :)
The total postage on the cover is 1,95,500 rials - roughly around ₹276/- or USD 4 . No wonder it’s tough to find a person willing to send a cover from Iran !
I also got these postcards , stamp set in Persian alphabets and the miniature sheet on Owls of Iran ! Thanks Hamid !
