A journey through time, culture and countries with all the envelopes I receive. I take each cover I receive and study the stamp and the postmarks. So each page will be about the virtual travel with each one of my covers... so join me in this journey of seeing the world through my covers, stamps and postmarks.

Postcrossing in Ã…land Islands
Postcrossing
There are so many cool things about this stamp! First of all, images don’t do justice to its shiny metallic surface, whose colors shift from pink to purple. But there’s also the fact that this is a not a normal stamp… it’s heart-shaped! You can carefully detach the inner perforations and transform the stamp into a heart !
This special stamp was designed by Ã…land Post’s own Cecilia Mattsson, and issued on June 7th, 2019.
To celebrate the occasion, the Finnish Postcrossing Friends Association timed their annual trip to Ã…land to coincide with the stamp launch.

Ireland Postcrossing
The Ireland Postcrossing stamp was issued in October 2017 . The international rate stamp depicts the basic process of Postcrossing - sending a postcard to someone and receiving a postcard from another person in the world ! The stamp was designed by Design HQ using an illustration from artist Cathy Dineen featuring a colourful display of postcards being passed from person to person around the world.
Seven stamps, designed by the botanical artist Susan Sex, featuring flowers native to the woodlands and hedgerows of Ireland came on sale on 9 September 2004. They were; 4c dog violet, 5c dandelion, 48c primrose, 60c hawthorn, 65c bluebell, €2 lords and ladies and €5 dog rose, 48c daisy- only available in booklets, self-adhesive booklets or self-adhesive rolls.
Five more designs were added on 12 April 2005, the 1c bloody crane's-bill, 2c Irish orchid, 7c fly orchid, 10c mountain avens and €10 spring gentian.
Another five on 20 February 2006: 12c autumn gorse, 25c common knapweed, 75c navelwort, 90c viper's buglossand €1 foxglove.
With four more on 1 March 2007: 3c yellow flag, 55c large-flowered butterwort, 78c black bog-rush and the 95c purple loosestrife.

Austrian bridge and postcrossing
This bridge provides a crossing for vehicular traffic, while at the same time also functioning as part of the Nussdorfer Wehr, a dam and lock system for the Danube Canal. To accommodate this unique combination of functions, the bridge has three truss lines. The middle truss line is positioned closer to the southern truss, allowing for a wider space between trusses on the northern side of the bridge. The northern side of the bridge is the deck for vehicular traffic. The narrower southern side of the bridge contains machinery related to the dam and weir system.
This bridge has significant ornamental details, the most obvious of these being the bronze lion statues created by the noted artist Rudolf Weyr. Also noteworthy was the engineer for the bridge, the famous Otto Wagner who was responsible for much of the infrastructure in Vienna.
Wartime damage in 1945 was repaired in 1953-1955. Another major repair took place in 1978. The bridge is in excellent condition today, with not a single spot of rust or deterioration visible on the trusses as of 2017.
The First Day cancellation shows the majestic Lion on the bridge . Date of issue - 9 May

The postcrossing stamp - The stamp was designed by Robert Sabolovic and depicts a stylised “wall of postcards”, with the word POSTCROSSING in front of it, painted in the Austrian flag colours.
Date of issue - May 2016
The Austrian flag has three horizontal bands of red, white and red . It was adopted in 1918.
The third stamps - shows the Bergkirshe / Haydn church in Eisenstadt ( the capital of Burgenland state in Austria ) . The pilgrim church "Visitation" was built between 1715 and 1803 according to plans drawn up by Prince Paul I. Esterházy. Unfortunately, the prince did not live to see the groundbreaking ceremony as he died from the plague in 1713. The famous musician Haydn’s mortal remains are here.
Definitive stamp - 2015 - impressions of Austria series

Moldovan Guguta brings a postcard
The FDC has the first day cancellation - 23 June 2018 and also a picture of the Moldovan postbox sending out postcards to the world :)
Guguţă, a character imagined by Spiridon Vangheli (born in 1932), author of books for children, is also featured on the other side of this card below.
Guguţă is considered as a true national symbol in Moldova and was one of the pioneers of animated films in the country from 1970 (under the Soviet period).
Guguţă is wearing the Moldovan national dress as well as a lamb fur cap ("caciula de cârlan") that he never leaves. Thanks to this cap, Guguţă may well protect his classmates or an entire village from cold conditions. This cap grows indeed as his generosity and kindness occur !
Update : 28-09-2018
I received a beautiful Guguta postcard with the Postcrossing stamp and the two special cancellations too !
