Cantonese opera and Birds of Prey




Chinese stamps look really colourful and distinct ! 

The top right stamps are a set of three stamps - showing the Cantonese opera . 



The stamps were issued in October 2017 and designed by Zhang wang. The stamps have anti counterfeit measures with a security paper - security ink , special perforation and fluorescence.

Cantonese opera - originated in the Southern GhuongDong province. It is also popular in Hongkong , Macau, and Chinese community in South East Asia. It involves music, dance , martial arts , acting and acrobatics

These two stamps are part of four stamps on Birds of Prey issued by China Post in 2014 

Eastern Imperial Eagle - Aquila heliaca 



The eastern imperial eagle (Aquila heliaca) is a large species of bird of prey that breeds from southeastern Europe to western and central Asia. Most populations are migratory and winter in northeastern Africa and southern and eastern Asia.

The Hen Harrier - circus cyaneus 


The hen harrier (Circus cyaneus) is a bird of prey. The genus name Circus is derived from Greek kirkos, meaning 'circle', referring to a bird of prey named for its circling flight. The specific cyaneus is Latin, meaning "dark-blue".It breeds in northern Eurasia. The term "hen harrier" refers to its former habit of preying on free-ranging fowl. They too winter in the southern and Eastern Asia.
