A letter from Arctic circle

Svalbard is an island within the Arctic circle , and is part of Norway. The island is 80% made of glaciers and ice. It is also the island which has atleast 10 Arctic research stations belonging to different countries.

Longyearbyen is the HQ of this arctic island , and most probably the northern most town with human inhabitants and also a postal office on earth !

This island is one of the places in the Arctic circle where the Northern lights - Aurora Borealis- can be seen . It is a phenomenon where the sky gets lit up in different colours ( mostly green ) because of the interference of the solar waves and the magnetosphere above the earth.

The cancellation shows the latitude and longitude of Longyearbyen and also a reindeer .

My first cover from the Arctic circle !
